Christian Funeral:

Dr Haldane (Robin) Nelson
On 12th May at St Brigid's Church: a Quaker Meeting for Worship on the occasion of the Funeral of Dr Haldane (Robin) Nelson, who died on 8th May 2004 aged 82.

Dr Nelson, who had practised as GP in Castleknock village for many years, was a lifelong member of the Society of Friends. The elders from the Meeting House at Eustace Street, Temple Bar, conducted the meeting in St Brigid's in order to be able to accommodate all those who wished to attend. Gathering in silence, over 250 people from all walks of life were invited to enter into the communion of prayer, holding the bereaved before God and giving thanks to God for Dr Nelson's life and witness. Moving tributes to Robin were paid by members of the family, the Rector, local residents, former patients, and friends and colleagues from the Adelaide Hospital, Trinity College, the Probus Club and many other institutions. At Robin's request, his body was then taken to Glasnevin for cremation; his ashes will later be interred in Castleknock Churchyard with his late wife Win.

Our prayers and sympathy are with Robert, Jan and family, with Mark and his family, his brother Niall, and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours.
May he rest in peace.
