The Rector WritesDear Friends, As another year of hard work draws to a close, and we head off on our holidays, I want to thank some people especially for all their hard work. First, particularly to the Clonsilla Project Steering Group, Tom McCabe and the team, for all that they have done over the last year. Turning the sod marks a great milestone for the project (you can read all about it elsewhere in this issue) and we look forward to having the builders on site very soon. Special thanks must also of course go to Eddie Greene, who as I write, is returning home from his marathon cycle ride through Sweden. A fantastic achievement with over €9,500 raised for the project, as well as great publicity for us. Communication is a very important part of parish life, especially in an exceptionally transient community such as ours, and so I also want to thank all those involved in communication around our parish. The magazine couriers (over 30!) are often unseen and unsung, and they do a great job of delivering the monthly magazine to all the highways and byways of the parish and beyond (and save on postage too!). Particularly we want to thank Yvonne Smith for being the “courier to the couriers”, the first crucial stage in the distribution process. Our parish website has had a big overhaul so if you haven’t looked recently, do visit again. The design is excellent and all the links are up to date. A huge vote of thanks is due to Philip Good and his team for all the hard work that has gone into it. The address is www.castleknock.dublin.anglican.org Finally, a thank you goes to Ada Lawson as she retires as Castleknock Sunday Club Coordinator. She has put a great deal of hard work into the role and has continued the great success that Sunday Club is in this parish. We very much appreciate all that Ada has done both in this role and in the role of Parish Centre manager. A warm welcome goes to Lesley Anders as she takes on the Coordinator’s role from September. I wish you all a peaceful and relaxed summer season. Please don’t forget to go to Church when you’re away! Many small rural parishes in Ireland depend on summer visitors to keep going, so do give them your support. Church times are often available through the links on the Church of Ireland website: www.ireland.anglican.org Yours in Christ Andrew |
