In Memoriam:

GORDON GEARY
The sudden and tragic death of Gordon Geary was widely reported in the news media, and came as terrible shock to many in this parish. Although a long-standing member of this parish, Gordon was brought up as a Presbyterian and his funeral took place in Christ Church Rathgar. The large crowd was testimony to Gordon’s wide circle of friends and the high esteem in which he was held. Canon Dick Bertram spoke movingly in his sermon about Gordon’s long life. He was a lifelong sportsman, particularly keen on tennis, and it was through tennis that he met Joy. They were both very involved in many sports activities and played table tennis both here in Castleknock and at a much higher level for many years. In later years, Gordon became very involved in Masonic charities, especially their sheltered accommodation in Dalkey, where he was a director and the inspirational figure behind all their fundraising. Both Joy and Gordon loved their house at Pelletstown, and it was only recently that they had to move out as building developed all around them. They were about to move to Stepaside when Gordon’s sudden and tragic death occurred. We send our sympathies to Joy, their son David, daughter-in-law Corona and all the family circle, and continue to pray for Joy’s recovery.

MARGARET KELLETT
Just as these notes were being written we learned of the death of Margaret (Peggy) Kellett, Gordon Kellett’s mother, in Cavan. Our sympathies are with Gordon, Muriel and the whole family circle.

BRIAN MCMAHON
Sadly another tragedy has befallen our wider parish family with the sudden death of Brian McMahon, husband of Regina Liepe and father of Aoife, Katrina and Sebastian. Needless to say, this death of a relatively young man is a terrible shock to the whole family and we will hold them in our prayers over the days and weeks to come.
