The leaders have attended the demonstration classes in P.E. and Scripture and are looking forward to the coming year. We re-opened on Saturday 18th September for Explorers. New members are welcome. Our older girls started back on Wednesday 22nd September. Ros Garrett Mothers' UnionThe opening service in September was well attended. Jenny Mutawe and Lorna Hendy were enrolled and Rom Olusa was welcomed to the branch from her home branch in Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, Lagos, Nigeria. The Rector was the preacher and celebrant at Holy Communion. Supper was provided by the committee and there was plenty of chat with news to catch up on after the summer. Rosemary Allen celebrated her 80th birthday during the summer and the occasion was marked by Mothers’ Union. Rosemary became a member of Mothers’ Union in 1962 when the Branch reopened. We offer our sincere sympathy to our Chairperson, Muriel Kellett, on the death of her mother-in-law, Margaret. Granny Kellett was a Mothers’ Union member and came to our meetings now and again when she was visiting with Muriel and Gordon. She loved to chat and was always interested in all that went on in the Branch. We valued her friendship and we will remember her with fondness. Our Knit-ins for “Simon Accessories” will continue regularly during the coming months. Attendance with needles and wool is not restricted to MU members!! On Monday 4th October, Mary O’Connor from Children in Hospital, Ireland, is coming to tell us about this voluntary work undertaken in our hospitals. We will be having a clothes collection for the Simon Community and some members may have their Shoebox ready for the Diocesan Christmas Gift appeal for Darndale/Belcamp. Valerie Jameson will also be manning her Literature Stall where she will have Christmas cards and other items for sale.
