Clonsilla Project

Building for the future generation

THE DIG IS ON!

If you go round the back of St. Mary's at the moment you will see a very large hole! At present the archaeologists, John Kavanagh and team, are excavating the area of the building, as required by the Heritage Service. Contrary to rumour, they haven't found the Irish Crown Jewels!! (The Irish Crown Jewels were stolen in 1907 and never recovered. At the time, some circumstantial evidence suggested that they were buried in Clonsilla Churchyard and a number of fortune seekers attempted to dig over most of the land, but sadly with no success….)

When the archaeologists finish, the builders will be ready to move in and begin. There is at the moment a shortfall between money raised and the final tender, so we intend to cover the difference with a loan. It would be very helpful if this could be provided through interest free loans from parishioners, so if you might be in a position to help with this, please contact any member of the Project Steering Group, the clergy or the Parish Office.

If you still haven't subscribed to our building fund, it's not too late: forms are available from both churches or the Parish Office.

The Gift Fair showcases local Irish craftspeople selling their high quality pottery, jewellery, woodcraft, artworks and more. In addition, there's a parish stall selling jams, knitwear and other items. Proceeds are in aid of the Clonsilla Project. Please come and support us: it's a hassle-free way of doing your Christmas shopping. Also don't forget our notelets, on sale at €5 for eight cards.

We have a GOLF CLASSIC coming up in May 2005 in Blackbush Golf Club. We are looking for some golfers to come onto the committee for this event. Please contact Valerie Fildes if you can help.

As you can see from the notice opposite, the Castleknock Lions have very kindly agreed to organise a concert with us on 11th December.
