The Brigaders partook in a Hostess Evening on Friday 12th November, whereby they helped prepare and serve a meal to the leaders in Ros Garrett’s home. This is a very popular evening and good fun for both Brigaders and Leaders. Our Explorer’s Christmas party is on Saturday 11th December. Ros Garrett Mothers' UnionOn Thursday 4th November five members joined with members from Kilternan, Rathfarnham and Narraghmore branches to attend the monthly morning service of Holy Communion in the Mothers’ Union chapel in Christ Church Cathedral. The celebrant was our Diocesan Mothers’ Union Chaplain, Rev. Paul Houston. After the service we enjoyed a cup of coffee and a chat hosted by Kilternan branch. On Thursday 11th November twelve members were out again - this time to attend the North Area meeting in Clontarf Parish Hall. This evening consisted of a display by members of branches in the north area, of their arts and crafts which were many and varied. We brought along a painting, some embroidery work, knitted children’s cardigans, a crocheted christening shawl, a knitted christening shawl, cross stitch work made into little pictures and cross stitch Christmas decorations, a “Dr Who” knitted scarf and a “Simon Accessories” hat. The highlight of the evening was a flower arranging demonstration by our own Dorothy Robinson who created four very different arrangements and which were raffled at the end of the evening. As usual, on these occasions, supper of delicious traybakes and bracks was served by the hosting branch. In December we have two events. The first, our Branch meeting on Monday 6th when we will have a talk by a representative from the Guide Dogs of Ireland. Supper will be a little bit special for this Christmas meeting though no mulled wine! On Friday 17th December some of us are going the hear the Seafield Singers in concert in Clontarf church. This is always a sell out concert and we are looking forward to that. Our first meeting of 2005 is on Monday 10th January when Lesley Anders is organising a work shop evening on Media awareness. We will also have some food tasting and a recipe swap so bring a sample of your favourite mouth-watering cake, tray bake, dessert or what ever takes your fancy.
