Announcements

Farewells:
A number of households have left us over the summer, to graze in new pastures…. Farewell to Janet Craven, moving to Sandymount; and to the Hastie family, moving to Wicklow. Please do come back and visit us again. Farewell also to Sunil Temi, a visitor to Clonsilla for the last few months from the Mar Thoma Church of India, a very ancient (2nd Century) church which is in full communion with Anglicanism.

Castleknock Parish Centre:
Ada Lawson has announced her retirement as Parish Centre manager, a position she has fulfilled very ably for the last four years. This is a very demanding job, juggling the needs of different groups and being present, often late at night, to tidy and lock up. Thank you, Ada. At the time of writing, we are working on obtaining the services of a new manager.

School news:
A big thank you to all who helped with the Closing Service in June, and especially to the outgoing 6th class. Presentations were made to all of the staff who were leaving and particularly to Mrs. Wilkinson. Over the summer months, two new teachers have been appointed: Ms Sandra Meyer and Ms Claire Lamberton. Along with our new principal, Mrs Moloney, we welcome them to Castleknock NS and hope they have a very enjoyable and successful time with us.

Parish Barbecue:
A wonderful night was had by all at the parish barbecue, held recently in St. Thomas’. The weather was fine, the food and wine excellent, the company stimulating, and the evening concluded with Night Prayer. A big thank you to all involved in the preparation, especially to wardens Rachel Devlin and Sadie Smullen. For a number of people, it was their first time in Mulhuddart, and the grounds looked wonderful. Remember, weekly night prayer at 8 p.m. on Sundays continues until the end of September. All are welcome!

Harvest:
It seems strange to be writing about harvest in mid-August, but our festival services take place on 25th September in Mulhuddart at 3.30 p.m. and on 9th October in Clonsilla and Castleknock (usual Sunday times).

Reopenings:
All of our parish organisations will be reopening in September, including our Sunday clubs on September 18th. Contact numbers for more information on the various organisations are on page 8 of this magazine.
