Announcements

Flower evening:
Another very successful flower evening was held in aid of the Clonsilla Parish Centre fund. “Autumn Glories” was the title, and Deirdre Campbell certainly lived up to this with a glorious series of arrangements in different styles. Thanks again to Dorothy Robinson for organising another great night which raised over €1,000.

Summer Club:
38 children took part in this year’s club, and everyone had a great time. The theme was “Xpedition Force” and the explorers journeyed through the events of Holy week with Jesus. New activities this year included cooking and drama with our own resident TV actress….. The success, once again, was down to a brilliant leadership team, by both young adults and slightly older ones, who put a great deal of hard work into the preparation and smooth running of the week. Thanks again, everyone.

Dunboyne NS:
Congratulations to our new next door neighbours, St. Peter’s NS Dunboyne: Mary Hanafin TD recently came to perform the official opening of this, the first entirely new C of I National School in the Republic since 1922.

Harvest:
Our parish harvest services in Clonsilla and Castleknock will take place on October 9th, when we look forward to welcoming our old friend Fr Eugene Kennedy of Laurel Lodge shortly before his retirement.

Olive Wilkinson’s retirement:
Another good time was had on Friday 9th September at an evening to mark the retirement of our former Principal. Everyone present enjoyed the food and wine, which were followed by speeches from the staff, Board of Management, parents and from Olive’s long standing friend and fellow Principal, Hazel McClean. Following the presentation of a silver salver and cheque, Olive herself replied, thanking all those who had contributed to her happy years teaching and as Principal. Afterwards everyone enjoyed music from past pupils Peter and Colum O’Reilly and piper Mike Smith. Thank you to all of the organising committee for their hard work.

Castleknock Tennis Club:
The Tennis Club recently opened their magnificent new indoor Courts, bringing the total number to 14. Rev. Andrew and Fr Maurice O’Shea blessed the new arena in the presence of the Taoiseach who performed the opening ceremony.
