The Rector Writes

Dear Friends

The opening of the Clonsilla Parish Centre was a day that will go down in the history of the Parish. There was the service itself, in the packed Church, and the terrific singing; the Archbishop’s sermon on the importance of outreach to the community; the Gospel Choir; and the sense of celebration as he cut the ribbon and unveiled the plaque. The good weather, the refreshments and Blanchardstown Brass Band completed a very happy and significant time for us. You can read the full text of the speeches further on in this edition but, once again, I would like to thank the steering committee – Chair Tom McCabe, Secretary Liz Fleeton, Treasurer Donna Greenway, Pat Gray, Valerie Fildes and Charles Seaman for their huge commitment to the project over five years and especially in the last few months. Many people worked really hard cleaning the Church and centre, and tidying the grounds in the last few days: thank you to all of you. If you weren’t able to be there, a DVD will be available soon, and you will shortly see photos on the parish website.

The centre will be available for rental by November 1st. If you know of any groups who might be interested in booking the space during the week, please contact the Parish Office (Tel: 820 0040).

Coming up soon, a new event, The Parish Open Day, will take place on Sunday November 13th at 1pm. All of the parish organisations will be there, advertising what they do, on the look out for new members and leaders, but mainly letting everyone know all of the activities that go towards building up a Christian Community that is committed to serving the needs of the wider world. Lunch, including wine, will be served and everyone is encouraged to come along. A big thank you to the Communications Committee for organising the event.

Yours in his service

Andrew
