Holy Baptism:
On 21st August 2005 at St Brigid’s – Bradley O’Connor, son of Gary and Ros of Blanchardstown.
On 4th September 2005 at St Mary’s – Ciara Mulhern, daughter of Shelia and Fergus; and also Juliet Ihekwereme, daughter of John and Taiwo.

May they shine as a light in the world to the glory of God the Father .

Christian Burial:
2nd September 2005 - Sidney McConnell, late of Renvyle, Chapelizod and Castlefield, Clonsilla.

In memoriam:
Sidney McConnell’s sudden death is the end of an era for Castleknock parish. Sidney was a towering figure with us for many years, showing inspired and consistent leadership. He served as a member of the Select vestry for 50 years and his practical, down to earth advice, the result of a lifetime’s experience, was always respected.

After working on the Guinness estates, he left in the early ‘fifties to found his own building firm, Sidney McConnell and Co. He quickly developed a reputation for delivering the highest standards and expecting them from others; as a result, he was elected president of both the Master Builders Association and The Construction Industry Federation. As well as being a hard worker, he was devoted to St. Brigid’s Church and its fabric, constructing the reredos and furnishings for the side chapel. A full life of 92 years was active to the very end. We offer our deepest sympathy to his children Neville and Sylvia and their families.
