Clonsilla Project

Building for the future generation

Praise for Clonsilla Parish Centre

Fionnuala May, Conservation Officer with Fingal County Council, recently paid a visit to the Clonsilla Parish Centre. Both she and the Council’s Chief Architect hailed the project as a tremendous success. They described it as “a superb example of how modern architecture can blend with a traditional building”. They were particularly impressed with the copper finish, the detailed architectural plans, high standards of workmanship and the way in which the final building exactly matched the planning documents.

She stressed that when a modern extension is placed with a traditional building “any attempt to mimic or pastiche the old must be avoided”. The builders of the church used the modern architecture of their day; it is important that we do the same in our era.

She congratulated the parish, architect and building team for their vision.
