Boys' Brigade

The 10th Dublin Company has had a busy month. The Anchor Boys attended the Battalion annual fun outing to Fitzone and as usual  had a great time. Company Section sent a group on the Battalion’s annual hike. This year, they climbed Sugar Loaf (but have insisted they didn't go up the easy way!).

We sent three teams from Junior Section to the Battalion Go-For-It Challenge in Rathmines. This involved an afternoon of different games from giant Jenga to remote control cars and the boys really enjoyed it. Next on their agenda is the annual swimming gala in Tallaght. We had an excellent attendance from Junior Section at our Founder’s Day Service in St. Anne's Church, Dawson Street.

Finally, we will be manning the book stall at our forthcoming Christmas Fair and we would be grateful for any books to sell. Please drop them to Castleknock Parish Centre before the sale or give them to any of the leaders.

Janet Seaman.

Girls’ Brigade

Our older girls have been busy since September collecting shoeboxes and various items for the “Samaritan’s Purse” project. We have sent 45 boxes off in November. We will finish up for Christmas on Saturday 10th December and re-open on Wednesday 11th January (for older girls) and Saturday 14th January 2006.

Mothers’ Union

Our Branch attended the North Area meeting on 8th November in Raheny Hall where the speaker was Commandant Ted Shine. He spoke about three of his recent postings:

1. Banda Acheh following the tsunami, where he was working with Concern
2. Darfur in Africa again with Concern
3. Congo, where he was with the UN

His presentation was really interesting.

Our own next meeting will be on Monday 5th December and is titled “The Hat Box and The Kitchen Sink”. The night out is planned for Thursday 12th January in Coolquay Lodge.

Youth Club

Twenty budding “artists” were busy in early November producing posters etc to decorate the Youth Club table for the Parish Open Day. The new Clonsilla Parish Centre was the cosy venue for our successful ‘film and food’ night. This year, the Youth Club will have a stall at the Christmas Fair.
