Clonsilla Easter Vestry: Sunday 23rd April following the 10 a.m. service. Come and have your say and elect next year’s Select Vestry.

Service at Castleknock Community College:
Andrew and Elaine recently celebrated Holy Communion with the C of I students at CCC, a new event which we hope to repeat again next term. We were able to use the purpose built Meditation Room and have refreshments afterwards. Thanks to the school for accommodating us, and to all who attended.

New participation for our young people:
At the consultations for younger members held recently, one of the strongest calls by the people themselves was for new opportunities to take part in the life of the church. To this end, two new schemes are starting up in late April/ May, initially with our confirmation group in Castleknock but, as time progresses, we hope to include older members and also be in Clonsilla.

The first idea follows on from a very successful St. Brigid’s night Eucharist, where almost all the confirmation group acted as servers at the communion. We will now be having two of the group at most Sunday Eucharists, participating by assisting the clergy, learning how a service works. It has been shown that “hands on” participation is one of the best ways of nurturing a young person’s faith. Secondly, others in the group will be Junior Churchwardens, learning the ropes and assisting the regular Wardens in their duties.

The chamber choir of Strathearn Girls’ Choir, East Belfast sang for us on Sunday 12th March as part of a weekend visit to Dublin. The singing was of a very high standard, including pieces by Faure, Rutter and How, under the direction of choir master Edwin Gray. The congregation thoroughly enjoyed their singing, and the choir members clearly enjoyed the trip! Many thanks to Clonsilla parishioners who acted as drivers and Castleknock parishioners who provided lunch before their return north.

Sunday Club:
The ladies in Clonsilla were delighted with the beautiful hand made gifts which the children presented to them on Mothering Sunday. Thanks to all the children, and to the leaders Avril and Linda, for all their work preparing them.
