Changes to The Healing Ministry:
The laying on of hands and anointing with oil for Healing goes right back to the early Church and into Jewish tradition. It has had a considerable revival in the 20th and 21st centuries, and here in this parish we have had healing services on Sunday mornings at least once a year, and the monthly evening healing service in St. Brigid’s. It is clear from the large numbers going up for laying on of hands on the Sunday mornings, that there is considerable interest and demand for this ministry. However, in recent times, the monthly evening service has not been well attended, and it is clear that the time does not suit many people. We have therefore decided on a new time for this ministry: the 3rd Sunday of each month, immediately following the 11.30 a.m. service in St. Brigid’s. When the 11.30 a.m. morning service finishes, those who want to receive the laying on of hands are asked to go quietly over to the side chapel, and when the rest of the congregation have left, there will be a short time of prayer and then the laying on of hands will take place. Naturally, even if you haven’t been at the 11.30am service, you can still come to receive this ministry. Remember, too, that the laying on of hands can be received either for yourself or for someone else. The first time for this ministry will on Sunday 21st May.

Christian Aid coffee morning:
The annual coffee morning for Christian Aid will take place on Friday 19th May (a week later than previously advertised). All are welcome to Castleknock Parish Centre to support this important cause.

Summer Club:
Our annual summer club for national school aged children will take place 21st – 25th August. At the moment, we are looking for leaders, both senior (over 18) and junior (under 18). If you would like to help with this really enjoyable and fulfilling ministry to children, please contact Andrew or Elaine.

Sunrise service:
A new event this year was the holding of the first ever ecumenical sunrise service on Easter morning at the Phoenix Park cross. Almost 200 hardy church members from Dublin 15 to Crumlin gathered at 6 a.m. to celebrate the Resurrection, with the Paschal fire burning brightly as dawn broke. Readings, prayers and hymns were shared, and although there was too much cloud for a proper sunrise, the weather was mild. Tea and toast were very kindly organised by a great team in Castleknock Parish Centre.

Disco:
A great night was had by all who came to the 50s, 60s and 70s disco! Thanks to the Clonsilla team who served the food, and to Robert Whitehead for his organisation and hard work behind the turntables. Special thanks to all who made an effort to dress up and look the part, we’ll definitely do it again soon.
