The Rector Writes

Dear Friends,

As we head into July, and a time of rest and relaxation for most people, we can look back on some notable events over the last year – Elaine’s Ordination to the diaconate and priesthood, Stella’s commissioning as lay reader, the parish away day and many other events. The Parish continues to grow in numbers and in the activities that we offer, but most importantly, it’s good to see many people grow in faith and spiritual development. Why not use the summer to read something with a bit more depth than the usual “airport” novels? Here are a few books that I have found a good read recently and you might enjoy:

Why I am still an Anglican ed. Caroline Chartres pub. Continuum

What is the point of being a Christian Timothy Radcliffe pub. Continuum

Simply Christian Tom Wright pub. SPCK

The Humble God Densil Morgan ed. Canterbury Press

Whatever you do, if you are on holiday, don’t forget to support a Church near you. Many rural churches depend on holiday makers to keep them going and they are often very welcoming to visitors. Try looking on diocesan websites for full details.

Yours in His service

Andrew
